This is the skull of a Maximilian’s Pionus!
Maximilian’s Pionus (Pionus maximiliani) or the scaly-headed parrot is a medium-sized parrot native to South America. It has bright red undertail coverts and the feathers on the head have a scaly appearance. It is the largest species in the genus Pionus and is occasionally kept in captivity.
This is a nice captive example sourced from a research collection and the first of the species we have ever had. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
This specimen is a legal bird skull – it is not from an ESA- or MBTA-listed species and is legal to sell and possess. US sales only, sorry!
SOLD!
