Monkey Kapala Skull #00463

This is a decorated kapala made from a real monkey skull!

Decorated kapalas made from human skull caps were originally used in rituals or to hold offerings in both Hindu Tantra and Buddhist Tantra. Kapalas created from other animal skulls and parts were later made for the tourist trade, but these pieces are rare, valuable, and highly coveted in collections.
This beautiful and elaborately-decorated piece is made from the real skull of a monkey (likely Semnopithecus schistaceus, the Nepal langur). It is one of the nicest examples we’ve had, and is in excellent vintage condition. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
This specimen is not from an ESA-listed species and is legal to sell and possess. US sales only, sorry!
