Four-Horned Antelope Taxidermy Mount #00510

EXTREME RARITY ALERT! This is the taxidermy shoulder mount of a four-horned antelope!

The four-horned antelope or chousingha (Tetracerus quadricornis) is a small antelope native to India and Nepal. Its closest living relative is the much larger nilgai. Males of this species are the only extant wild bovids that can naturally have up to four horns! It is considered by some to be the most primitive of the bovids. Some early fossil forms in the family also possessed more than two horns.
This specimen was taken by hunter and global traveler Sumner Sheets in 1970. It was mounted by the Seattle branch of the famous Jonas Brothers Taxidermy, which has since closed. It was on display with the rest of Sheets’ extensive collection at the Sheets Wildlife Museum & Learning Center in Huntington Indiana until the museum’s permanent closure in 2022. The collection was subsequently auctioned off and we were fortunate enough to acquire a few pieces.
We cannot overstate the rarity of this specimen. It is one of the rarest specimens we’ve ever offered for sale! We are aware of only one other taxidermy example of the species that has come up for sale in recent years. This example is in beautiful condition, skillfully mounted by the best of the best in the taxidermy business. It is hard to believe that it is over 50 years old! Please review all pictures and description for condition.
This specimen is not from an ESA-listed species and is legal to sell and possess. US sales only, sorry!
