Spruce Grouse Skull #00540

This is the skull of a spruce grouse!

The spruce grouse (Canachites canadensis) is a grouse native to the boreal forests of North America. Also called the Canada grouse, it is one of the most arboreal grouse species. It is hunted in Canada and Alaska.
This is a nice example of the species with some minor damage to the underside. It was beetle-cleaned and whitened in strong hydrogen peroxide. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
This specimen is a legal bird skull – it is not from an ESA- or MBTA-listed species and is legal to sell and possess. US sales only, sorry!
