Spotted Hyena Taxidermy Mount #00748
This is the taxidermy mount of a spotted hyena!
The spotted hyena is a large feliform carnivore native to sub-Saharan Africa. The species has an undeserved bad reputation as a cowardly scavenger. In reality, spotted hyenas are active hunters and highly intelligent with complex social lives. Hyena specimens are highly coveted and getting harder to find.
This is a nice mid-century vintage taxidermy mount of the species. It is in great vintage condition overall with few flaws, questionable anatomy aside: a few (real) teeth are cracked and one is flipped root-side out. In our experience, mounts of this style almost always have the full skull inside. Please be careful if you decide to remove it, though, because old taxidermy mounts were often preserved with harsh chemicals. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
This specimen is not from an ESA-listed species and is legal to sell and possess. US sales only, sorry!
