Fossil Subhyracodon “Running Rhino” Skull #00749

This is the fossil skull of an ancient “running rhino!”

Subhyracodon is an extinct genus of tapir-sized hornless rhinocerotids that lived in early Oligocene North America about 33 million years ago. One of the rarer representatives of the White River Fauna, it is found much less frequently than contemporary species like oreodonts and the smaller rhino Hyracodon.
Likely S. occidentalis, this is an excellent complete upper skull of the species in great condition. It even appears to have predator bite marks on its forehead! As with almost all fossils of this age, it has some restoration. The restored areas have been left unpainted, but can be painted to match if desired. Please review all pictures and description for condition. You don’t have to worry about the legality of this rhino! It can be legally sold and owned in all states.
A fossil, this specimen is not from an ESA-listed species and is legal to sell and possess. US sales only, sorry! We are not comfortable shipping such a large and heavy item internationally.
