Cow Bezoar #00916

This is a bezoar, or hairball, from a domestic cow!

Bezoars are masses of indigestible material that can form in the gastrointestinal system of many animals, often becoming too large to be passed naturally. It was once believed that these objects had medicinal properties, able to neutralize any poison. Because of this, bezoars were and continue to be coveted objects in cabinets of curiosity and natural history collections. They are rare and difficult to obtain.
This is a trichobezoar, or hairball, from a domestic cow. It is a large example at 3 1/8 inches long and 2 7/8 inches wide. It has some rough areas from improper storage by a previous owner, but is in good solid condition overall and is an attractive example. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
