King Penguin Feather Pair #00989
This is a pair of feathers from a king penguin!
The king penguin (Aptenodytes patagonicus) is a species of flightless aquatic bird native to the South Atlantic and the South Indian Ocean. It is the second-largest species of penguin, only outsized by its threatened relative the emperor penguin. It can stand up to 100 centimeters tall and weigh up to 18 kilograms. Penguins have a thick coat of unique fur-like feathers that keeps them insulated in the cold waters of the Antarctic. Penguin items are rare and highly coveted in collections, especially those of less commonly seen species like the king penguin.
Sourced from an old US collection, this pair of feathers has been attractively displayed in a frame against a royalty-free image of a preening king penguin. We have a limited number of framed pairs available, each containing a white breast feather and black back feather. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
These specimens are legal bird feathers – not from an ESA- or MBTA-listed species and legal to sell and possess. US sales only, sorry!
