This is the subfossil or fossil skull of an American badger!

The American badger is a stocky fossorial (burrowing) mustelid native to North America.
This is a very cool fossil or subfossil example of the species from Iowa. Found in an area where the bones of Ice Age megafauna were also recovered, it could be anywhere from a few hundred to tens of thousands of years old! It has been river stained a beautiful dark brown patina. This specimen has been expertly restored. The upper skull and rear molars are largely original, and the remaining teeth and mandible are composites. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
