Southern Cassowary Skull #01081
This is the skull of a Southern cassowary!
(Listed on behalf of a friend!)
The Southern cassowary is a large ratite native to Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and northeastern Australia. It is the third-heaviest living bird, and distinctive for the large casque on its head and dangerous dagger-like claw on each inner toe.
This is a nice large captive example of the rare species. It has a few imperfections and has been roughly cleaned, but is a solid example overall. Cassowary skulls are extremely rare and highly sought-after in collections! Please review all pictures and description for condition.
This specimen is a legal bird skull – it is not from an ESA- or MBTA-listed species and is legal to sell and possess. US sales only, sorry!
