This is the skull of a ruffed grouse!

The spruce grouse (Bonasa umbellus) is a forest-dwelling grouse native to North America. It is the most widely distributed game bird in North America.
This is a nice example of the species with cervical vertebrae attached. It was beetle-cleaned and whitened in strong hydrogen peroxide. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
This specimen is a legal bird skull – it is not from an ESA- or MBTA-listed species and is legal to sell and possess. US sales only, sorry!
