Domestic Water Buffalo Skull #01144
This is the skull of a domestic water buffalo!
The domestic water buffalo is a large bovid originally domesticated from the wild water buffalo in two separate events about 6000 years ago in Asia. The two lineages, called the river buffalo and the swamp buffalo, were domesticated in India and Southeast Asia respectively. These bovids are used for milk, meat, and farm work.
This is an interesting subadult example in good condition from our personal collection. It is likely the river variety. It is rare to find examples of the species at this age! Please review all pictures and description for condition.
