Coco de Mer Nut #01310

This is a polished coco de mer nut!

The coco de mer (Lodoicea maldivica) is a plant in the palm family native to the Seychelles. Its unique nuts, said to resemble a woman’s buttocks, have been used for centuries to fashion bowls and as a prized collectable.
Sourced from an old US estate, this is an excellent vintage example that has been hollowed out, polished, and fashioned as a container. It measures 11 inches long. The old metal hinges are still in good condition. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
This specimen is not from an ESA-listed species and is legal to sell and possess. US sales only, sorry!
