Pathological Greater Capybara Skull #01319

This is the skull of a capybara!

The famous greater capybara is the world’s biggest rodent, with the largest recorded specimens weighing up to 200 pounds! It is native to South America and closely related to the diminutive guinea pig.
This is a beautiful adult example of the species. It was beetle-cleaned, degreased, and whitened with hydrogen peroxide and has a nice set of teeth and intact nasal turbinates. It measures 7 1/4 inches long. This example is special because it exhibits malocclusion, or misaligned teeth. This causes overgrowth on the incisor teeth in rodents. It’s the first capybara we’ve seen with the condition. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
This specimen is not from an ESA-listed species and is legal to sell and possess. US sales only, sorry!
