Fossa Skull #01373

EXTREME RARITY ALERT! This is the skull of a fossa!
The famous fossa is a cat-like mammal native to Madagascar, where it is the largest living mammalian predator. Though it resembles a cat, it is a member of the family Eupleridae, related to the mongooses. Its cat-like form is one of the most impressive modern examples of convergent evolution.
Offered reluctantly from our private collection, this is a wonderful juvenile example of the species in virtually flawless condition. It passed naturally in captivity and had been a part of the Museum of Osteology collection since 2010 until we acquired it a few years ago.
We cannot overstate the rarity of this specimen. It is one of the rarest specimens we’ve ever offered for sale! We are aware of only two other examples in private hands in the US, and one of them is ours. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
This specimen is not from an ESA-listed species and is legal to sell and possess. US sales only, sorry!
