Pathological Brown Bear Skull #01627

This is the skull of a brown bear!

The brown bear is a widespread and variable bear species native to North America and Eurasia. It varies greatly in size across its range; the biggest brown bear subspecies compete with the polar bear as the largest living land carnivoran.
This is an impressively large example from an old collection. It has some damage to the teeth, but the broken jaw appears to be pathological – areas around the fracture appear to have begun to heal. The skull measures approximately 14 1/2 inches long and 9 inches wide. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
