This is the skull of an Alaskan tundra wolf!
The gray wolf is a canine native to North America, Europe, and Asia. It is the largest extant wild canid and is highly social and intelligent. The Alaskan tundra wolf (Canis lupus tundrarum) is a distinct subspecies of the gray wolf endemic to northernmost regions of Alaska. It is similar in size to the interior Alaskan wolves, but has a narrower rostrum and white pelt.
This is a beautiful large example of the subspecies with intact nasal turbinates and excellent teeth. It measures just under 11 inches long. This specimen is from a research collection. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
This specimen is not from an ESA-listed population (ID, MT, and AK populations are not listed) and is legal to sell and possess. However, gray wolf parts cannot be sold to all states, so please know your local laws before inquiring. US sales only, sorry!
