The whale shark is a species of carpet shark native to all tropical waters of the world. It is famously the largest living fish in the world, capable of growing to lengths of over 18 meters. Despite its size, it is a filter feeder and not a threat to humans. This impressive species is displayed in a few public aquariums. Though it is rare in the wild according to the IUCN, this assessment has no bearing on its legality as the species is not ESA-listed.
Sourced from a US museum, this beautiful captive example of the rare species is in excellent collection. It measures 15 inches wide and 12 inches tall. It’s the only example of this species we have ever seen available for sale! Please review all pictures and description for condition.
