This is a feather from a tawny frogmouth!
The charismatic tawny frogmouth (Podargus strigoides) is an unusual nightbird (related to nightjars and potoos) native to Australia and Tasmania. These beloved birds have wide mouths and large yellow eyes. They are successfully kept in some zoos and private facilities.
Sourced from a US collection and from a captive individual, this gorgeous rare tail feather has been attractively displayed in a frame against a royalty-free illustration of a tawny frogmouth. It is not glued in place and can be removed or repositioned. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
This specimen is a legal bird feather – not from an ESA- or MBTA-listed species and legal to sell and possess. US sales only, sorry!
