Mountain Bongo Skull #01345

EXTREME RARITY ALERT! This is the skull of a mountain bongo!
NOTE: Though the wild population is rare and in decline, the mountain bongo has a healthy captive population in the US. It is not ESA- nor CITES-listed. The IUCN assessment of a species has no bearing on its legality.
The bongo is a large forest-dwelling antelope native to sub-Saharan Africa. It has a beautiful striped red coat and spiral horns in both sexes. This is a mountain or eastern bongo (T. e. isaaci), an incredibly rare subspecies only found in Kenya in the wild. Thankfully, it breeds readily in captivity, and this is a US captive example.
Originally from Skulls Unlimited, this is a beautiful captive adult example in excellent condition with beautiful horns and the mandible intact. The Skulls Unlimited tag is attached. This species is rare in collections and highly valued, and the mountain subspecies even more so! You may never see another available. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
This specimen is not from an ESA-listed species and is legal to sell and possess. US sales only, sorry!
