Pathological Opossum Jaw Fossil #00223
This is the pathological fossil jaw of a Virginia opossum!
The Virginia opossum is a cat-sized marsupial native to North America. It is the only opossum species found north of Mexico. This species is known for “playing possum” or feigning death when it is threatened.
This is an excellent Pleistocene (Ice Age, 10,000+ years old) fossil jaw of the species from Florida with evidence of a dental abscess. It is in fantastic condition for its age with beautiful color and great teeth. Pathological fossils are rare and seldom offered. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
A fossil, this specimen is not from an ESA-listed species and is legal to sell and possess. US sales only, sorry!
