California Quail Skull #00296
This is the skull of a California quail!
The California quail (Callipepla californica) is a ground-dwelling bird native to the west coast of the United states. It is invasive on a number of islands outside its range, including Hawaii, and in a few South American countries. It is hunted in its native range but uncommon in collections.
This is a nice example of the species. It was beetle-cleaned and whitened in strong hydrogen peroxide. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
This specimen is a legal bird skull – it is not from an ESA- or MBTA-listed species and is legal to sell and possess. US sales only, sorry!
