Brown Bear Skull #00402
This is the skull of a brown bear!
The brown bear is a widespread and variable bear species native to North America and Eurasia. It varies greatly in size across its range; the biggest brown bear subspecies compete with the polar bear as the largest living land carnivoran.
This is an interesting subadult example from an old collection. Because the canine teeth were still emerging, this bear was likely just over a year old. The skull is only 9 3/4 inches long and 5 1/4 inches wide, but the upper rear molar teeth are over 1 1/8 inches long, a trait specific to brown bears. The canines have hairline cracks and the skull was lightly painted white, but it is in great vintage condition overall. Subadult brown bear skulls are a rare find! Please review all pictures and description for condition.
This specimen is not from an ESA-listed species and is legal to sell and possess. However, brown bear parts are restricted in some states, so please know your local laws before inquiring. US sales only, sorry!
