This is the fossil claw core of an extinct giant tortoise!
Hesperotestudo is an extinct genus of giant tortoises native to North and Central America from the Oligocene to the end of the Pleistocene. They quickly went extinct after the arrival of humans, as giant tortoises are wont to do.
This is an excellent Pleistocene (Ice Age, 10,000+ years old) fossil claw core of Hesperotestudo crassicutata from Florida. It is in excellent condition with minimal wear. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
