Tortoise Shell Kapala Mask #00423

This is a decorated kapala mask made from an elongated tortoise shell!

Decorated kapalas made from human skull caps were originally used in rituals or to hold offerings in both Hindu Tantra and Buddhist Tantra. Kapalas created from other animal skulls and parts were later made for the tourist trade, but these pieces are rare, valuable, and highly coveted in collections.
This beautiful and elaborately-decorated piece is made from the real plastron of a female elongated tortoise. It measures 8 inches long and is decorated with stamped metal adornments and coral beads. It is in excellent condition with no missing parts. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
This specimen is not from an ESA-listed species and is legal to sell and possess. US sales only, sorry!
