Fossil Tortoise Pair #00611

This is a pair of fossil tortoise shells!

Stylemys is a genus of extinct tortoises that was native to temperate to subtropical areas of North America, Europe, and Asia from the late Eocene to the early Oligocene. The genus was the first dry land tortoise to evolve in the order Testudines.
This is an excellent pair of Oligocene-age shell specimens, likely Stylemys nebrascensis from the White River Formation. Both shells have some restoration, but are in good shape overall. We cannot accurately estimate the percent of restoration, as we did not restore this specimen. The shells measure 7 1/4 and 6 1/4 inches long. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
A fossil, this specimen is not from an ESA-listed species and is legal to sell and possess. US sales only, sorry!
