This is the fossil jaw of a white-tailed deer!
The familiar white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) is a medium-sized species of deer native to the Americas. The genus Odocoileus first appeared in the Pleistocene, and also includes the extant mule deer and Yucatan brown brocket.
Sourced from an old Florida collection, this is a fantastic jaw section with a beautiful dark patina. This specimen is mineralized and has five teeth preserved. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
