Fossil Ischyromys “Squirrel” Skull and Skeleton #00727
This is the fossil skull of an ancient squirrel relative!
Ischyromys is an extinct genus of small arboreal sciuromorph rodents related to modern squirrels and mountain beavers. It was native to North America from the Eocene to the Oligocene.
This is a really cool skull and partial skeleton of an Oligocene species. The skull closely resembles the modern mountain beaver. It is in great condition for its age (30 million years or more!) with some minor losses. It has been prepped to be displayed in its original matrix. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
A fossil, this specimen is not from an ESA-listed species and is legal to sell and possess. US sales only, sorry! We are not comfortable shipping such a fragile specimen internationally.
