This is the subfossil skull of a common raccoon!
The common raccoon is a procyonid native to North America. Highly adaptable and intelligent, it flourishes in both natural and urban areas.
This is a very cool subfossil example of the species from Iowa. It could be anywhere from a few hundred to thousands of years old. It has been river stained a beautiful dark brown patina. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
