Polish Chicken Skull #00358

This is the skull of a Polish chicken!

The Polish chicken is an unusual breed of domestic fowl characterized by a tuft or crest of feathers on the head. This feature is more than skin-deep – the skull itself of this breed is “vaulted” and bubbles outwards, creating the crest. The expansion of the skull sometimes creates fontanelles that expose the brain, making the breed more susceptible to head injury.
This is a nice example of the species with a pronounced “vault.” It was beetle-cleaned and whitened in strong hydrogen peroxide. Please review all pictures and description for condition.
This specimen is a legal bird skull – it is not from an ESA- or MBTA-listed species and is legal to sell and possess. US sales only, sorry!
